Book: Daisy Jones & The Six

Author: Taylor Jenkins Reid

Paperback, 355 pages

This book.

The perfect book to read as days run hot and cold, the planet literally can’t decide if it’s ready for autumn or wants to hold on to summer. I picked this up at Gatwick Airport on the Friday Evening and couldn't put it down all weekend, it was just such a fun ride and I enjoyed the Vh1, MTV, Rolling Stone feel of it all.

I loved reading the push and pull of Daisy Jones and Billy. As well as the tension that builds between all the band members. This book had me craving songs by Janis Joplin and googling the photos of Woodstock and Glastonbury

My goodreads rating: 5 stars, creativity and fun were the main factors.

As many have stated in the #bookinstagram sphere this book reads like a reality TV programme, it's no surprise Reese Witherspoon as executive producer and her Hello Sunshine crew has picked it up to make a 13 part Amazon series. CAN'T WAIT, my friends!

I love a good book adaptation and I was all about her Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarity HBO series.

Back in my early twenties I worked as a Casting Assistant for several Casting Directors in Chicago, to this day it remains a passion for me. I won't do this for every book review however it is very fun creatively so i'm sure this format will appear again.

Drumroll, please....I know, I know. Cheesy...Without further ado,

Casting Ideas for Reese, and Hello Sunshine

Daisy Jones : Florence Pugh

Florence will most notably be Amy in Greta Gerwig's film adaption of Little Women. I think the world be talking about her frequently in 2020 as Amy is an extremely difficult character to portray.

However the real reason I thought of Florence as a great Daisy for The Six is because of the intensity and attraction her characters command even at their ugliest states which screams Ms. Daisy Jones. The best example is in this featurette, of AMC's The Little Drummer Girl

In terms of her singing there are several videos of her singing acoustically on youtube however I don't think we've quite witnessed her full range as a singer which I think would be an exciting element of intrigue.

Billy Dunne: Johnny Flynn

Johnny Flynn is an actor, musician, poet, and a noted actor to watch. Especially as David Bowie in the upcoming biopic called Stardust (still in production)

Johnny I think could capture the tortured artist that is Billy Dunne. For your viewing pleasure here are a few videos featuring his vocals:

Graham Dunne: Jamie Bell

It's hard not to reveal spoilers with Graham's character so I'll keep this short and sweet and just say I think Jamie Bell's complicated layers and achievement of sweet natured will perfectly suite being the 'other' Dunne brother.

Camila Dunne : Diane Guerrero

From Orange is The New Black fame we were introduced to Diane Guerrero. I would love to see her as Billy's wife Camila. She is a true woman who can command a space and takes charge. I think her commitment to activism also prepares her for this powerful role.

Simone Jackson: Jessica Williams

Soulful soul singer Simone is a part that belongs to actress Jessica Williams. She was the youngest senior correspondent on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and now starring in the movie Incredible Jessica James on Netflix. I'd love to see dynamite scenes between her and Daisy (Florence) kicking it in the seventies.

Karen Karen: Sharon Van Etten

Incredible raw musician and song writer Sharon Van Etten would be an awesome Karen, Karen. It wouldn't be her first time acting on the screen she was recently in The OA and Remind Me Tomorrow. Hopefully you've heard her music but if not here's some of her music:

And finally I hope the series keeps the role of the Narrator/Author and who better than Daisy Ridley?! And that is all I am saying on that matter.

Now I could keep casting, from the rest of the band to music execs but it's best to keep a bit of intrigue still. I'd love to hear what you think of my choices or if you have any ideas of who you hope will play these delicious roles in the comments below.
